Ok, I don’t look as sexy, but it sure feels nice to have some free time to finish the book I was reading and catch-up with the latest episodes of my favorite TV series.
But, right now… I’ll take a nap! Only when on vacations.

My vacations are ending, batteries are recharged, stress levels are at minimum…

Book Pile

My last post was almost 3 weeks ago. It might seem a long time ago but, after a very stressful last work week, I’m currently enjoying a well deserved vacation. So, I haven’t had much time to write! After hitting the beach for a week, I’m sure this vacations shall be a time for resting, resting, resting and… a lot of reading.

The photo (on the side) shows some of the expected reading materials:

- “The Girl Who played with Fire”, Stieg Larsson.

- “I, Robot”, Isaac Asimov.

- “One Continuous Mistake”, Gail Sher.

- “The Children of Men”, P.D. James.

- “Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software”, Erich Gamma, Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson, John Vlissides.

Has you can see by the contents of the above list, I like to read a lot, and the topic is not very focussed… :-) I’m considering adding some comics to the list. Maybe I’ll read “Watchmen”!

Some Changes Go Unnoticed

Things change. Sometimes without anyone  taking notice of it… and the last thing I noticed that changed was Capri-Sonne. Yes, I mean the well known juice that comes in those puffy packages different from any other juice packages. It’s not a metal can, it’s not tetra pak carton, it’s Capri-Sonne!

Capri-Sonne was elected to be my latest vacation official drink. During a late afternoon, the beach brought to my attention the ‘new’ fact.

The orange straw, that comes firmly attached to the back of the package, no longer falls inside. The package design has been remade to avoid that. I don’t exactly what changed, but the fact is that my first grade school trips horror is no longer possible!

Whenever the straw didn’t fall into the package, it was just because the straw pierced the package front-to-back. That is also very unlikely because the new design includes a very soft membrane very easy to pierce.

I hadn’t had a Capri-Sonne in a long time, but now that I’ve tried it again… it brings memories.

Bye, bye… Vacations!

The title might make the reader to think this is one of many posts that appear in this time of the year in blogs all around the blogosphere. Excuse me, but this is not the case… I’m not saying good-bye, trading the workplace with some tropical paradise to spend a well deserved vacation. I will, eventually!…

This post is about how I saw my vacation delayed yet another week. Yep! The costumer asked to get the delivery before the end of the month… So, first deliver the product, then and only then, vacations…

Now, more than ever, I think that I started sprinting the marathon a few months ago, and it’s still going…

Pay Attention

@ Jack C

Let me start by saying “I need a vacation”.

That being said, today’s thought goes to my obvious lack of concentration. I suspect that not being on vacation for six months in a row is the major cause of sensing some difficulty in concentrating. And worst of all, this is becoming evident for the people around me. This week, several events have brought that to my attention. Dramatically…

I’ve never considered myself stupid, but this week:

  • I was unable to find a word in a book index (of course the word was there)
  • I forgot the hours of scheduled meetings (4 out of 5)
  • I was unable to find an evident option in one of the applications I use regularly
  • and… I forgot the forth event… I know, depressing…

I need to go on Vacation, soon…
