For those how don’t know, Rock in Rio is a music festival originally designed in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil (which explains the name of the event). However, it has become an international phenomena capable to move crowds of people in Brazil, Portugal and also Spain.
The last event was in Lisbon, with a well known slogan “Eu Vou” which means “I’ll Go”. So, what I have to say is… I Went!
A. bought the tickets and dragged me and [the little] A. with her. We didn’t stay to the end, because it would be late for [the little] A., but it was a very good experience.
The place was stacked with people, but the sound was good and the stage had huge side screens for the shorter ones [little A.]. I hope to repeat the experience as soon has possible.
This week has been just me and my daughter. Everything is going well and I think we could manage for another week without mom… before the house simply collapsed into itself.
I’m sure that mom has heard the distant cries of “Come back, we miss you so much!”… yes, from the other side of the Atlantic, all well long…
Also, I found a video that I would like to share with you. Very funny! Enjoy!
I love to learn new stuff with my little daughter. She is reaching a age where lots a questions must be answered. The last question was about the meaning of PM that appears just after the time in the digital clock from my task bar.
The question caught me completely off guard, but I like to answer all my daughter’s questions… from the easiest to the most complicated!!! So, after a joint googling adventure we found the meaning of PM/AM.
From wikipedia we got: “The 12-hour clock is a timekeeping convention in which the 24 hours of the day are divided into two periods called ante meridiem (a.m., Latin “before noon”) and post meridiem (p.m., “after noon”).”.
All children events, like the one I attended yesterday, are to be enjoyed by the family. But every time I attend such an event I start wondering if I’m too Big to attend. Notice that I didn’t wrote I’m too Old!
I left the Disney on Ice - Aventuras na Disneyland feeling sorry and a little sore… My seat was just in front of a small girl, which spent the duration of the show trying to look over what she certainly thought to be a huge head. I known the feeling and don’t enjoy it either, when someone has his or her huge head in front of my movie or concert. To avoid standing in front of the little girl, a big part of the show was spent lying flat in my chair or almost crawling under it. All that hiding exercise left me with a sore bum…!
The show was very interesting, with a nice set of special effects, but we were expecting something more. I guess we’ll have to go directly to Disneyland Resort Paris to watch the grand disney spectacle.
The title sentence must be terminated with “…, and have a lousy ticket stub and a rain check to prove it!”
This weekend was dedicated to the concert of the band Tokio Hotel. Unfortunately, the lead singer of the band got sick a few days (???) before the concert and the show was canceled. The announcement was done by the producer/manager just when the show was about to start, in front of a full audience (of around 17 thousand fans).
The great majority of the fans were girls, of course, with an average of 14 to 16 years old and the will to ‘camp’ outside the concern arena 3 days before the doors opened. I’m not a fan, and it’s difficult for me to understand all the crying and sobbing that the cancellation generated. Fortunately, my daughter which is a fan didn’t started crying and making a scene as many did.
I must admit that feelings of being too old, to be surrounded by such a crowd and all it’s immature behaviors caused by rapid hormonal changes, were present during several times. But a father has to do, what a father has to do… The concert was rescheduled to sometime during June (or July?), and again we’ll be there to listen to the “crazy haired german teen band”.
The next concert will Alicia Keys (also in Pavilhão Atlântico) just after tomorrow… but that will be subject of another post!
The last week was very unproductive. None of the four or five posts evolved from mere drafts, and nothing that was scheduled was really finished.
Well!… Not everything thing was bad. Me and my girls went to the municipal swimming pool for a couple of hours, twice. The last time I’ve been in the water had been more than a year ago.
The first day, after a couple of laps (assuming it like a man, no more that 200 meters) the body started to feel a little back acke, which got even worse after a couple of dives from the starting blocks. All this effort, lead to a magnificent good nights sleep. The following day, we done it all over again.
It has been lots of fun. Hope to continue doing a few laps a week from now on.
Walking is one of my favorite things… just stroll around with the family gives me great pleasure. Unfortunately, time doesn’t allows such pleasure during the week, and the weather hasn’t helped in the last few weekends, my strolls have been delayed until further notice. I’m hoping next weekend to visit one the Seven Wonders of Portugal (Castelo de Óbidos is one of the next locations to visit).
Along with the family, the other companion for these strolls is the camera. Here’s one example…
