I love photography and any thing related to it. Photo journalism is one of the many areas that I enjoy and the work of Michael Kamber (for New Your Times) just made me really thing about life. The work presents shoots taken during a USA military mission in Iraq, during which the 2nd Brigade Combat Team was attacked (suffering a casualty). The quality of the photos and the comments of the photographers made me think about how fragile is human life. I think one of photography’s main goals should be to make people think more often about that.
Yes, I work with a bunch of conservatives. I found the video of the latest ad campaign from Diesel, and send them the link.
Just because I mentioned it contained Porn no one had the nerve to see it. I understand that being caught seeing porn at work is not the greatest ideia ever… But this ad campaign is based on the notion of SFW (Safe For Work) porn, which replaces all explicit images with cartoon pictures resulting in a very funny movie (and totally harmless)!
Just watch the video and tell me if it isn’t funny…
I like to listen to music while I work, because it helps me to concentrate. The other week some one suggested me some stuff that was very different from what I usually listen to.
Let’s start with Deolinda, a young group that presents excellent Portuguese popular music (a kind of neo-fado).
Another good suggestion is Novelle Vague with a lounge kind of a sound. I Just love”Too Drunk To Fuck”…
And finally, the last suggestion for today is Dona Rosa. This blink lady lived in complete poverty during 20 years as one of the many beggars of Lisbon. With the help of an Austrian producer, she got a record deal with a German record company. Singing Portuguese popular music, she shows the world her unique voice. Here’s a video of her singing in a street show.
Although loving photography, specially when focusing on nature, I tend to miss most opportunities to visit photo-exhibitions installed nearby. Usually I know about them just after they have finished or when it’s totally impossible to unschedule some other event. But this time I just passed in front of the entrance and could go without entering.
My father-in-law makes a good amount of wine by the end of each summer. One more, he asked me for some help during the wine making activities. My favorite thing to do before drinking the actual wine is not to catch the grapes, but to help stepping on them. So today, knee deep in grapes and wine and already with a lot of alcohol in the air, I helped to step on the grapes.
In a couple of month, I’ll say something about the taste of the new wine! Maybe accompaning a nice steak dinner.
Along with photography, I think I have a new addiction! To blog… that’s my newest addiction.
I’ve taken three days of vacation, plus the weekend to rest. But I found myself in front of my home PC for the entire day. I did not spend the whole day writing posts. Still I manage to spend the entire day… creating new photo blog using Wordpress as blogging engine.
Some of the content from the previous blog attempt was moved to the new location, but more will be available quite soon. Follow the news using the feed.
During my last vacation, I had time to finish a great book. Ensaio sobre a Cegueira is an excellent bedside reading and a great companion for some nice vacations.
José Saramago’s [EN] novel was adapted to the big screen by Fernando Meirelles (the producer of one of my latest favorite ‘independent’ movies - Cidade dos Homens/City of Men). But it is still waiting to premier in Portugal.
Blindness was nominated for the Golden Palm (in the Canne’s Film Festival), and it will be worth the next trip to the theatre.
